Reviewed by PZB-1 - I flew Air Zimbabwe two weeks ago and was confronted by an additional charge of US$50 by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe before leaving the country. Apparently if you book with other airlines, you do not pay this amount as Air Zimbabwe has defaulted in its payments to the CAAZ, so they are now obtaining this from passengers, while continuing to not warn them when booking of additional taxes. Had I known this, I would have flown SAA and saved myself US$45 (as that flight was only US$5 more expensive than the Air Zim flight.
(Inappropriate report?)
